Fireflies in Thailand…More on the Amphawa Floating Market

deep fried eggs, grilled (organ) meats, curries, shredded green papaya, fruit tea! crunchy whole crab, durian ice cream!

When we found out that the Amphawa Floating Market is over an hour from Bangkok (by cab), we kinda regretted going. But after we were settled in, we didn’t. It’s fantastic – not crazy like some of the markets in Bangkok; if you want some breathing room and space without hordes of tourists, this would be for you.

The only thing I’d do differently now that we’ve been there is I’d stay in one of the many small guest houses directly on the market. They had some really cool looking places that were between $10-20/night – but the best thing to do would be to book it after you get there. Take a look around first. There are a lot of places – I can’t imagine anyone getting stuck without accommodation.

Anyway!

We had FUN when the market turned on after 4pm. We even went on a boat at night to look at the fireflies. Total magic. Maybe the boat ride even more than the fireflies.

Here are the photos from the Amphawa Floating Market

  • Enjoyed the pics And the pic of Moxie in her new dress – did she pick out the fabric and you had it made? Or at least picked out the dress? She had a smile of sweet inner bliss – although she often has that smile 🙂 Also the pictures of Micah walking holding Mac’s hand and of course the one of Mikey carrying Mac on his back and Moxie on the front. Would love to see some pics of mama too.
And enjoying the wonderment in all of the expressions and friendliness of the Thais.

    • Hey Ma – she picked it all out 🙂 I think she wanted every single dress in the shop! The people were so lovely.
Wish now that we could have shopped more – we haven’t been able to shop hardly at all for this whole trip!

I'm opinionated, friendly & chatty... I hope you are, too
