I caved and bought Moxie some zebra-striped boots from Zulily. “Caved” because they were $24.99 (gulp), “caved” because they scratched against my puritan notions of what a useful shoe should be (= let’s juts call it a “birkenstock” and be done with it). These boots were touting “SQUEAKS” and “fun” and “frolicsome” in a way that “birkenstocks” just...don’t.
The only thing I regret at this point is that I didn’t make a bigger deal out of the whole affair – you know, go the whole hog Pioneer Woman and take photos of the boot-unwrapping and putting-on-for-the-first time in a STEP BY STEP kinda way.
Because man. That was FUNNY!!!!!!
No – really, what is was was HILARIOUS!
Moxie figured out that the things squeak and she went BERSERK! Dancing in circles, she couldn’t stop stomping. With gleeful abandon, wild delight.
This is what being a kid is supposed to be about – solid, undiluted FUN
And we couldn’t stop smiling over her sheer joy – it was this crazy glorious circle of joy.
I’m sure you have more sense than me. But if you are remotely questioning squeaky shoes for your kid...don’t. Just get them already.
Parents of kids who use Sure Steps (Moxie uses them sometimes) – just get half a size bigger – they slip right in.
She got up this morning and charged right over to where her boots were. Jumped up and down and wanted them on SO BADLY I couldn’t say no (we are a shoes-off-inside household).
Some things…are so worth it.
