No Decision Without Us: CoorDown’s Powerful New Video for WDSD
This is about CoorDown’s video for World Down Syndrome Day 2025, “No Decision Without Us”. The Plain English version of the short blog post on Nothing About Us Without Us is at the end.
CoorDown has done it again with this brilliant video for World Down Syndrome Day 2025
Nothing About Us Without Us
It’s long been the rallying cry of our cross disability community, born of the pain and frustration of not being forced on the sidelines while decisions were made about us, without us. My neurodivergent brain has always had a hard time wrapping itself around the entire concept of not involving the people who will directly face the consequences of a decision. It’s equally hard to understand the lack of interest in finding the best possible solution and universal access when sooner or later, people without disabilities will acquire one – or be personally impacted in some way. I mean, you plan for retirement – why aren’t you planning and investing in disability and access? It makes no sense.
So, thank you, CoorDown, for yet again highlighting a massive issue we face, and making it fun.

Plain English Version
“Nothing About Us Without Us”
This means we should always be included when decisions about us are made. In the past, others made choices for us without asking what we needed. That’s not fair! We are the ones who know what works best for us, so we should have a say in decisions that affect our lives.
I don’t understand why people wouldn’t want to find the best way to help everyone—especially since anyone can become disabled someday. We plan for things like getting older, so why not plan for making life accessible too? If the world was built with everyone in mind from the start, it would be better for all of us, now and in the future.
Thanks, CoorDown, for showing this problem in a fun way and helping more people understand why it matters!
